You’re accountable for everything you create. You can’t ignore that
If you’re an entrepreneur you should realize the significance of your own presence and by presence I mean you being there for your company during difficult times. One of the prime reasons why people fail to get hold of their business is that they create a problem for every solution. Yes, you read it right! Essentially, people have way too many excuses and they forget that they are liable for everything they create that incorporates their business too. Being responsible is the first step towards success. It is seldom that people try to find a way out of difficulty and they rather crib about little hurdles they face and the excuses they give are really lame. Many-a-times amateur entrepreneurs will try to avoid the situation and they’ll reason it with, “I don’t have time for the board meetings.” “I am unavailable.” “I don’t have time for this.” “I don’t have time for that.” Well, you got to make time mate, that’s how you’ll be able to earn your livelihood.
The basic fundamentals of all businesses are the same. Always remember that.
“It is easy for you and difficult for me, for you don’t understand what situation I am in.” If you find yourself speaking out these statements to your peers, I am sorry to tell you, you’re being a kid, not an entrepreneur. Other people may not understand your situation but they know that the basic fundamentals of all the businesses are not that different. And if you think that you’re unable to sell your products at their full potential or if you think that people are not paying enough for your products and services it is because of two basic reasons –
- There’s not enough value for your products or services – When a consumer seeks a solution to quench his needs, he looks for nothing else but quality. They are ready to pay for it provided you give them what they want.
- Insufficient marketing – Another reason why you’re not finding buyers for your products is that they are unaware that you even exist with such services. Your marketing strategies are not optimized and you’re not reaching the target audience.
Stop Procrastinating and start today.
Another major problem is your procrastinating and being a really casual-about-everything attitude. Wake up, open your eyes, and work for goals. Because best dreams aren’t ones you dream while sleeping but the ones that don’t let you sleep. And if you’re looking for anywhere to start, look inside you. You’re capable of it. Your procrastination will not lead you anywhere, but your perseverance will. In the due process you’ll learn so many things, beautiful things and important things. You’ll realize that perfection doesn’t exist but excellence is, and it is attainable. If you’re a small firm or business is small – you have a world of endless opportunities and unimaginable ways to improve from yesterday. If you can improve your business by merely 10 percent in a week, you will be 520 percent better than you were a year ago. The same applies to corporate giants, although your marginal rate might be relatively lesser, owing to the nature of your expansion. But even if you accomplish 1 percent gains every week, you’ll grow by 52 percent every year.
Leave aside excuses like- luck, lack of money, lack of time, lack of skills, lack of resources, etc.
Generally, lack of luck, money, time, skills, and resources are considered to be the top reasons for business failure. Yes, they really are. In fact, I’ll cover some of them in my upcoming topics. But, trust me, they are all excuses. Everything can be availed with little effort in the right direction and the right mindset. Let’s discuss them all in brief-
Lack of Luck – Well, luck favors those who favor themselves. Some magical things, favorable coincidence, good luck, and fortunate things happen to those who kept on trying in their full consciousness and keep on making well aware efforts. Those who are in a mindset of “confident on success”, “already in possession of goal”, and “searching resources” usually find their good luck, favorable coincidences, and fortunate things quickly. Everything is already there in our surroundings, we just need to have eyes to see them and able to put the useful things in alignment so that they benefit us.
Lack of money – Probably, this is one of the top reasons for business failure. Having sufficient funds is mandatory to start and then provide back support until the business starts sufficient money to keep itself running and further grow. There are two solutions to the situation of lack of money- (a) change the business, make it smaller, so that whatever money you have become sufficient for the new business plan. If you decide to choose this option then make sure you have 150% funds of whatever your business plan needs to establish itself. The practical consumption of money is always more (often much more) than expected. (b) arrange money either by borrowing it or earn it through other sources like selling off some not so important property. ALWAYS, ensure that you have sufficient funding for your business. DON’T put things in the future and say something like- let’s see something that can be done in the future or similar. This is terrible.
Lack of time – This is the most frequently used excuse and most dumb one; even the speaker always knows that this is an excuse. Every one, every one of us; a president, a prime minister, a boss of every business, an employee of every industry, a storekeeper, a beggar; has exactly 24 hours a day. So, why some people have time for everything and some have no time for everything? The answer lies in the management of work and not in the hands of a wall clock. So, whenever you got an urge to say…I don’t have time, think that you are saying… you can’t manage your work well enough to cut some time from unimportant things to save it for an important one.
Lack of skills – Just go and get them. Don’t ever say that “this is not my skill and I don’t want to learn it”. It is not about mastering a skill and become the most skillful person of that skill, it is about to know how to do a particular thing well enough to judge if another person is doing it right or not. Or at least, another person is making you fool around it or putting honest efforts. Well, one person can’t do everything in a business. The only expert on each task should be given that task to do in business. But the owner MUST know every task well enough to judge if his people are putting genuine efforts or making him fool. That’s it.
Lack of resources – Availability of resources is generally directly linked with the availability of money. You can hire required human resources, you can buy materialistic resources, you can put your researchers to discover or even invent new resource when it comes to new technology or machinery, and you can keep your focus on finding an alternate way to achieve a specific goal if an important resource is just unattainable.
In any case, if you are determined enough, take charge of everything, a solution provider of every problem whatever it may come your way, then success is always yours.
