The First Rule Of The Entrepreneurship – Do Not Make Excuses!

Everyone is familiar with the famous catchphrase of the cult classic, The Fight Club. This rule is strictly for the business owners and you’ve to follow it on the long run basis if you wish to be an entrepreneur. To begin with, always remember – You’re accountable for everything you create. You can’t ignore that!

One of the prominent reasons why people fail to get hold of their businesses is because they have a weird kind of syndrome where they tend to create a problem for every solution. Initially, when people start a business, they seem very enthusiastic and passionate about their ‘Start-up’ but gradually they lose interest, start making way too many excuses and they forget the fact that they are liable for everything they create including their business too.

First of all, don’t expect to be an overnight success, you can’t just swing a magical wand and build yourself an elevator. Being responsible and holding yourself accountable is the first step towards success. Every small business faces hardships and hurdles, the ones who fight their way through it come out victorious. Pick up any Fortune 500 company and scan their history. Among many other things, one common trait they share is that they are a problem solver, not a problem creator. Richard Branson, Li Ka-Shing, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, these are the people who try to find a way out of difficulty rather than cribbing about little hurdles they face.

You won’t find them saying any of the following sentences, “I don’t have time for the board meetings.” “I am unavailable.” “I don’t have time for this.” “I don’t have time for that.” Instead, they will be the ones telling themselves, “I got to make time for this, it’s my job and that’s how I’ll be able to earn my livelihood.” That’s the kind of entrepreneur you want to be!

Don’t tell anyone that their industry serves them better and if you were to be in it, you’d make massive gains too. Also, don’t scream your lungs, “It is easy for you and difficult for me, for you don’t understand what situation I am in.” Basic fundamentals of all the businesses are same. Always remember that.

If you reckon you’re not being able to channelize your sales to its maximum potential, don’t make unnecessary excuses, identify the issue and work to fix it. Let me help you with it, there can be two possible reasons behind this.

Number one is the lack of value (quality) in your products or services. See, when a consumer seeks for a solution to quench his needs, he looks for nothing else but quality. If he’s ready to shred money for something why will he come to you in this stiffly competitive era unless you give what he’s looking for? Think about it. They are more than ready to pay for your products and services provided you give them what they want.

Second is insufficient marketing. Another reason why you’re not finding buyers for your products is because they are unaware that you even exist with such services. If your marketing strategies are not optimized and you’re not reaching the target audience then how can you possibly generate profit? To fix this problem, I suggest you get hold of your sales team and map out strategies according to needs of your customers.

All said and done, don’t procrastinate and start today! Wake up every morning, recall your goals, say them out loud and work for them. Because best dreams aren’t ones you dream while sleeping but the ones that don’t let you sleep. And if you’re looking for any kind of motivation to start, look inside you.

Tell yourself every day- You’re capable of it! Your procrastination will not lead you anywhere, but your perseverance will. In the due process you’ll learn so many things, beautiful things and important things. You must have heard the phrase, “Perfection doesn’t exist but excellence does.” What if I tell you the latter one is attainable. Just be sincere to your work and don’t avoid it for unnecessary causes.
